SS T-Jet Rules A/FX - Magnatraction Rules Stock SG+ Rules Modified Rules

BODY RULES:

1. The body must completely cover the chassis when viewed from above except for legal stock openings. (ie. windows and vents)

2. Each body must have a front windshield made of original glass or clear plastic / lexan. Rear and side glass is optional. All cars must be complete with bumpers, driver heads, roll bars, etc., as was originally manufactured. Windows may be glued into window openings and must substantially fill the window opening

3. The body must be of the hard shell variety (injection molded or resin cast), originally manufactured with two screw posts conducive for mounting to the Thunderjet chassis including, but not limited to those from Aurora, Bauer, Faller, Playing Mantis, Atlas, Nu-Rora, Road Race Replicas, BRP, MEV Originals, Bichler-Racing, CCR, etc.

4. The body may be lowered and lightened but not weighted.

5. Fender wells may be cut for tire clearance provided body rule #1 is not violated.

6. Two screws must be used to mount the body to the chassis. Screw heads may be ground down for track clearance.

7. Hardtop cars such as Falcons and Mustangs may remove the interiors, but the roof must be reattached.

8. Wheel wells may NOT be cut to allow changes to the original wheel base. Which means, if the car was manufactured as a short wheel base car, it cannot become a long wheel based car for this event. No use of the truck axle 3rd hole on the chassis unless that was the original hole used for the axle with the body you're using.

9. Screw posts may be cut to lower body. The screws may be glued into the screw posts.

10. Screw posts may be repaired or replaced with plastic in their original and intended position(s). Split screw posts may be repaired with an aluminum sleeve only. No brass or other metal..

11. Body itself must not exceed original manufactured width.

CHASSIS RULES: All Chassis must be stock Aurora Thunderjet copper. The following modifications may be made:

1. ANY front and rear wheels/tires and axles may be used. Including, but not limited to, slip on silicone tires, silicone foam tires, independent front ends, and weighted front rims. All additional weight must be on the axles and must remain outside the chassis.

2. Homemade front/rear wheel weights permitted. The setup used must not violate any body, chassis, and width requirements. Axle nuts, spacers or springs must be kept outside of the chassis. No collars (spacers with a set screw) will be permitted.

3. Removal of gear plate rails is permitted, however the patent number on the front of the gear plate must be legible. No other cutting, grinding, or drilling of the gear plate or chassis allowed.

4. Solder or glue is allowed to attach gears to shafts.

5. Gear plate must use stock brass 14-tooth armature pinion and 24 tooth idler and driven gears. Gears may be polished to provide a smooth mesh. Gears may not be drilled, tapered, shortened, beveled or altered in any way.

6. Only stock, black, Aurora Thunderjet guide pins or similar replacements are allowed. Guide pin may be shortened to desired length, such as to fit a lock & jointer layout. No red or clear rear, or swivel guides are permitted.

7. Rear end gears may be 9, 12, or 14 tooth pinion with a stock 15 tooth crown gear.

8. Armatures must be stock T-jet with gray laminates of 16 Ohms or higher. No rewinds, dewinds, or balancing allowed.

9. Magnets MUST BE stock T-jet (orange, green, white, black, black w/stripe). Magnets may be shimmed but not cut, drilled, or sanded.

10. Brushes must be copper/carbon flat top and bottom type. Brushes may not be modified. Brush springs may not be glued or soldered.

11. Pickup shoes and springs must be stock copper T-jet or replacement. Ski shoes made specifically for the Thunderjet chassis are permitted. Plated shoes are not permitted. No weights, wires, or creative bends allowed. There must be at least half the height of the originally manufactured step left in the shoe. They may be flattened slightly to allow better contact to the rails.

12. Any other modifications will be considered illegal unless cleared by the Tech Committee.
