Welcome to one of Canada’s oldest running H.O. Slot car clubs were 26 races are held on 4 four-lane tracks using almost every type of H.O. slot car since the sixties.

RULES:  2007-2008 SEASON    

                                                                       

 

I. MEMBERSHIP

 

      Membership is usually 19 years or older, however a member parent may bring their children to race and participate.

 

II. MEMBERS’ GUESTS

 

        Each member may bring a guest to a race and guests are welcome to participate in the racing.

       

III. RACE FEES

       

  Funds will be Collected at the end of the racing season & used for awards and a Family B.B.Q.

 

IV. RACE DATES

 

        The racing season will run from September through June, consisting of approximately 26 race events held Thursday evenings.  The track will be open at 8:00 p.m. for practice and racing is to start approximately 9:00 p.m.

        A Schedule of race dates and classes at each track is “attached”.

 

V. HOUSE RULES

 

        No food, beverages or  near the tracks.

        Rick’s  smoking outside, deck side only and sunroom!

        Bill’s track: smoking outside, back or front of house

        Darryl’s track: smoking outside, Side of house

        Ash’s track: smoking outside, back of house

        Pop is available @ $.50 per can, or bring your own beverage.

 

        As gentlemen racers please respect your host’s property and wishes; especially refrain in the use of profanity and aggressive behavior.  Should disagreements/arguments arise, members should try to resolve them immediately and calmly.  Failing that, resolution will be put to a vote by all participating members by the Head Marshall.  It is our intention as H.O. enthusiasts to enjoy spirited hobby racing in friendly competition so as to ultimately improve one’s skills.

       

 

 

 

General Rules:

Each member shall have the opportunity of the duties of Head Marshal and Tech Inspector for an evening or 2 of racing during the season.

 

Vehicle Spec’ing:

Each racer will be allowed to spec. A maximum of two (2) vehicles per class.

 

Vehicle Maintenance:

Repairs can be made at any time thought the evening except when in a heat. Back up car may used at this time.

 

Rookie Status:

A first time racer at our club will have ½ lap advantage over the competitors at the beginning of each heat.

 

When 25 points are accumulated the rookie will become a competitor and loose his rookie status.

 

Length of Races:

Unless otherwise agreed upon by all racers present, Heat races will be 10 laps and semis and finals will be 15 laps long.

 

Points Structure:

Points will be as follows

 

In heat racing      First     – 4 pts.

                           Second – 3 pts.

                           Third     – 2 pts.

                            Fourth   – 1 pt.

 

In a Semi final     First     advances to the Finals

                           Second – 3 pts.

                           Third     – 2 pts.

                            Fourth   – 1 pt.

 

In a Final             First     – 7 pts.

                           Second – 6 pts.

                           Third     – 5 pts.

                           Fourth   – 4 pt.

 

If both cars become completely immobilized during a race will receive a DNF (Did nit Finish) and 0 points,

 

 

 

Race Structure:

 

Heats – Racers will run one heat in each of the 4 lanes. Starting order will be determined by

              charts posted at each track combined with the order racers arrivals for the race evening.

 

Finals – The top 3 racers each evening will go directly into the finals.

 

Semi – The next 4 racers will enter into the semi finals,

 

Lane choice in semi-finals or finals will go first to the racer with the least points in the heat racing. And so on to the highest points

 

Racers scoring equal points to last enter semis or finals will have a 2 min run off in the lane of there choice. Furthest distance cover will rank the higher racer.

 

Racers scoring equal points the years standings will determine who’s highest and receive the lowest score receives choice first,

 

Final Standings

 

There are 3 categories:  Stock, Modified, and Overall winner

 

Stock     Best 18 of 22 races for stock champion

Mod.      Best 3 of 4 races for Modified champion

Overall   Best 22 of 26 races for stock champion

 

Practice Laps:

Practice laps will be performed before the fist heat is called. There are no practice laps during or between heats and finals.

 

Kill Switch Racing:

 

When in the course of racing, a vehicle shall de-slot or become temporarily immobilized in any way, its driver may either abandon it there or activate the nearby KILL-SWITCH which will cut power to the whole track.

 

At this point the car (s) will be re-slotted and the head marshal will count on red light against the driver (s) causing the stoppage. 

 

A driver may register up to 6 red lights in any one race and upon requiring another will abandon his vehicle, scoring points according to there final positioning.

 

If a red light is caused by a properly slotted vehicle it may have a push with out penalty.

The head Marshall shall use fairness and solve any problems he has the final say.

 

Back up Car:

A racer may switch to his back up car at any time, but if done during a heat it will cost him 2 red light penalties

 

                                            Innocence is no excuse 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vehicle Specifications - General

 

  1. No vehicle shall be wider than 1-5/16”

 

  1. No vehicle shall be longer than 3-1/2 “  (Except “ Semis “)

 

  1. Bodies shall cover at least 80% of the chassis as seen from top view.

 

  1. Stock classes all bodies must be complete at the beginning of the 1st heat no modifications or alterations. Vehicles may be painted on the outside only.

 

  1. In modified class screens may replace windows.

 

  1. Only one guide pin allowed per vehicle.

 

  1. No rewound dewound or advanced arms in any stock classes. (Stock is stock)

 

  1. A race vehicle remains stock while incorporating any of the following.

 

 1- any tire change at the rear

             2- standard stock guide pins metal (no longer then stock pin) or plastic

                 offset may replace standard stock plastic

             3- tires may be glued to rims.

             4- shorten pick-up shoe springs.

             5- noise make or spark apparatus may be removed.

             6- Plastic armature skid plate may be removed.

             7- a body may be repaired as close as possible to original to be legal in stock class.

             8- front tire must be original but may be trued.

 

 

 

                                 2007 and 2008 classes and specs:

 

 

 

T-jet Stock                                 Attendance last year 2 races 12 racers

   

Body Specs:  Stock Aurora 1960-1970s Thunder-Jet, Vibrator, and Speedline.

Chassis Specs:  Stock chassis with copper chassis plates only, copper pick-up shoes small

                     Pinion gear set,  no cutting or drilling of chassis.     

                            Narrow wheels, Stock tires Maximum tire size:  5/64 (.078) inch wide,

3/8 (.375) Inch high.

 AFX stock motor magnets allowed, as well as the range of  

stock Replacement Aurora armatures such as AFX, Magnetraction/4-Gear and

                            Mean-Green.

                            No additional weights or magnets. No Quad arms or dewound / rewound.

No JL or Autoworld   parts.

 

 
Fray  T-Jet                                             new this year

Body Specs:  The body must be of the hard shell variety (injection molded or resin cast), originally manufactured with two screw posts conducive for mounting to the Thunderjet chassis including, but not limited to those from Aurora, Bauer, Faller, Playing Mantis, Atlas, Nu-Rora, Road Race Replicas, BRP, MEV Originals, Bichler-Racing, CCR, etc

 

Chassis Specs:  All Chassis must be stock Aurora Thunderjet copper. The following modifications may be made:

1. ANY front and rear wheels/tires and axles may be used. Including, but not limited to, slip on silicone tires, silicone foam tires, independent front ends, and weighted front rims. All additional weight must be on the axles and must remain outside the chassis.

2. Homemade front/rear wheel weights permitted. The setup used must not violate any body, chassis, and width requirements. Axle nuts, spacers or springs must be kept outside of the chassis. No collars (spacers with a set screw) will be permitted.

3. Removal of gear plate rails is permitted, however the patent number on the front of the gear plate must be legible. No other cutting, grinding, or drilling of the gear plate or chassis allowed.

4. Solder or glue is allowed to attach gears to shafts.

5. Gear plate must use stock brass 14-tooth armature pinion and 24 tooth idler and driven gears. Gears may be polished to provide a smooth mesh. Gears may not be drilled, tapered, shortened, beveled or altered in any way.

6. Only stock, black, Aurora Thunderjet guide pins or similar replacements are allowed. Guide pin may be shortened to desired length, such as to fit a lock & jointer layout. No red or clear rear, or swivel guides are permitted.

7. Rear end gears may be 9, 12, or 14 tooth pinion with a stock 15 tooth crown gear.

8. Armatures must be stock T-jet with gray laminates of 16 Ohms or higher. No rewinds, dewinds, or balancing allowed.

9. Magnets MUST BE stock T-jet (orange, green, white, black, black w/stripe). Magnets may be shimmed but not cut, drilled, or sanded.

10. Brushes must be copper/carbon flat top and bottom type. Brushes may not be modified. Brush springs may not be glued or soldered.

11. Pickup shoes and springs must be stock copper T-jet or replacement. Ski shoes made specifically for the Thunderjet chassis are permitted. Plated shoes are not permitted. No weights, wires, or creative bends allowed. There must be at least half the height of the originally manufactured step left in the shoe. They may be flattened slightly to allow better contact to the rails.

12. Any other modifications will be considered illegal unless cleared by the Tech Committee.

Body Specs:  stock or custom bodies that fit into Vehicle Specifications – General rules.

Chassis Specs:  Must have a t-jet, tuffone, JL, or Autoworld chassis with a pancake  armature. No exposed magnets or magnetic material on bottom of chassis or body. All else go’s

 

 

 

 

Magnatraction Stock                       Attendance last year 3 races 20 racers

 

Body Specs:  stock AFX, Magnatraction, Tomy, Johnny Lightening bodies

Chassis Specs:  Stock Magnatraction chassis

                             JL and Autoworld parts can be used

                       Rear tires may be changed, Rims have to be stock

 

 

 

 

 

Magnatraction Stock  4 gear                       new this year

Body Specs:  Stock AFX & Magnatraction 4 gear bodies,

Chassis Specs:  Stock Magnatraction 4 gear.

 No JL or Autoworld   parts.

                             Rear tires may be changed, Rims have to be stock

                      

 

 

Magnatraction Modified                   Attendance last year 2 races 13 racers

 

Body Specs:  stock or custom bodies that fit into Vehicle Specifications – General Rules   

Chassis Specs:  Magnatraction chassis or Magnatraction 4 gear , Pancake armature, all

Aurora G + “Open-Wheel”:                   Attendance last year 2 races 16 racers

 

 

         Body Specs:  Any stock Aurora AFX open-wheel body able to stock mount

            on a legal Chassis.

         Chassis Specs:  70s style Stock Aurora G +/ Super G + chassis, with or without

           snap-in rear axle. “Orange” magnets and gears may be interchanged.

                                     Rear tire change to silicone slip-ons

 

 

 

 

 

In-Line Stock Tomy turbo :                        Attendance last year 3 races 20 racers

 

Body Specs:  AFX or Magnatraction Porsche 917 body unmodified

Chassis Specs:  Only Stock Tomy turbo chassis, Rear tires may be changed, Rims have to be stock

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In-Line Competition 440X-2 F-1:                Attendance last year 3 races 21 racers

 

 

Body Specs:  Any stock Tyco 440 x 2, F-1 bodies

Chassis Specs:  Stock Tyco 440 x 2 chassis Rear tire may be changed

 

 

 

 

 

Tyco wide pan Stock Car                   Attendance last year 3 races 17 races

 

Body Specs: Any wide pan Tyco stock car body

Chassis Specs:  Tyco wide pan 440X2 chassis with ceramic magnets no polymer or

Tomy Super G plus group c cars          new this year

 

Body Specs: Any AFX Tomy group c body

Chassis Specs:  Tomy Super G plus chassis with clip or without clip. Stock magnets, no polymer or neo’s magnets    Rear tires may be changed, Rear rims may be changed to Tomy turbo rims.
