CORPUS CHRISTI SLOT CAR RACEWAY
On Thanksgiving
evening of 2000, a group of racers came to Dwain Harris' Corpus
Christi Slot Car Raceway. It was a thursday night which is a normal
race night, but the main reason for everyone showing up this thursday
night was the fact that the raceway owner turned 83 years young
on Thanksgiving of this year. Several of the people in attendance
have been customers of Mr. Harris since the 60's when his first
raceway opened up under the name of Big 8 Raceway. Corpus Christi
is located south of Houston on the gulf coast and prone to being
hit by hurricanes. One of which took the Big 8 Raceway and moved
it to another location. After building a new track in a new location,
Mr. Harris re-named his raceway simply "Slot Car Raceway",
and that is what it has been ever since.
Below is the birthday cake, with a race car theme.

Below is the long shot that has Mr. Harris in the picture.

I got the honor of milk duty,
pouring a cup of milk for everyone to wash down the cake.
Larry handed out the paper towels and Mr. Harris cut the cake.

Here is the group shot, all
except Linda, who took the picture.

Mike.
And below left to right: D.C. and "little Mike".
